The workshop

Fourteen people,
one saw bench

We started in 2014 repairing furniture nobody else would touch. Making our own came later, and it came from the same idea: a chair should be worth fixing.

Nothing is subcontracted. The timber is bought standing, milled locally and seasoned for two years before it is cut, which is why a Kastha piece does not move in a Kathmandu winter.

Six years in, one loose joint. They collected it, fixed it and returned it in four days without charging me. I have bought three more things since.

The delivery team carried it up four flights, unwrapped it, and took every scrap of packaging away with them. Nobody does that.

You can feel the difference between this and flat-pack the moment you sit down. It does not creak and it does not wobble.
